Chevalier Hikutini

Chevalier is a representative of the Marquesan soul. His roots are in Aakapa Bay, Nuku Hiva.

He’s been greeting vacationers with a smile and a refreshing drink at the bar for more than 20 years. Earlier in his career, Chevalier juggled his duties, going from pool boy in the morning to barman in the afternoon.

An accomplished waterman, he distinguished himself in rowing, winning all three legs of the legendary Hawaiki Nui Va’a race in 2014. His comment on his victory with EDT Va’a seems to reveal his life philosophy: “Unity is what it takes, it’s the only means for a team to move forward and for it to reach the level it deserves.”

In 2017, at the age of 41, he repeated his solo feat by winning Te Aito and Super Aito and even becoming Va’a World Champion, taking the time to crown himself with a Ti leaf headpiece before crossing the finish line… It’s his trademark accessory, proudly displayed behind the counter at the Lobby Bar, with his infectious smile.

A devoted father of two girls and a boy, those who know him say that he truly embodies the saying of giving one’s best, whether in family, work or sports. Chevalier, a free and generous spirit, continues to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those who have the pleasure of meeting him.
